    I was wondering...

What coin did you own at one time that you got rid of and wish that you had back?

Is there more than one? Why do you want it back?

I will start by telling you about two:

the first was a 1922 No D Die Pair #2 in ANACS XF-40. I needed cash and that was the best coin I had.

but the other is not about value today.. well, not $$$ value, at least

My father gave me for Christmas 1978 an 1891-CC Morgan in AU. They didn't have slab companies back then, and there were no real grades between AU and UNC to speak of. I wish I had never gotten rid of it. It was the only collector coin he ever gave me.

    NOT! LOL

I can't think of a coin, I've sold, and that I want it back...
I'm perfectly fine, with everything I've sold, and don't regret any of it, or want any of it back :)

You've never made a mistake in selling a coin??? Never realized after selling one that it may have been worth keeping? Never needed money so badly that you had to sell something?

You're not only incredibly intelligent, but you're also incredibly fortunate. Thank your lucky stars. ;)

1992 1 oz. Gold Eagle. Painful to buy and even more painful to sell because of my own previous fiscal stupidity.

These coins were a fairly limited mintage, yet, they are not too terribly expensive. Personally, I really do not believe that an MS/PR-70 is ever truly obtainable, but this one came pretty close. It was the best specimen of this coin I had ever seen. Of course, most of us have gone through hard times in our lives, and food and housing is always more important than some hunk of metal (yes, I know, blasphemy), so it's no longer in my possession.

I always loved this coin. I have no idea why I sold it. I thought I found it again a few years ago, but it was an imposter.

    I'm the same way.

Much of my collection consists of coins that are unique to me.
And they are in my "Final" grade, i.e., grades that I don't anticipate improving.

There are some coins that I've had a long time and am upgrading.
In this case I bought the best I could afford at the time, but with a bit more money available now (and with trade-in), I can now afford a a better coin.

Anything I've just sold have been items I no longer want for any number of reasons.

Nope, can't think of any coins that would fit in my current collection and therefore would like to have back.

I can't remember a time I did sell a coin, because I needed the money badly...
Can't remember selling a coin, and then regretting it...
I'll bump this thread up in a few minutes, days, weeks, months, or years, in which I do so though.. :high5: lol

There are many but 2 I will list are,

There are many but 2 I will list are, A 1852 Large cent in PCGS 66 BN.
I bought it raw and the seller had sent it in 3 times to get a 66 but it always came back 65 - I bought it for $265 and sent to PCGS and it came back 66 - it tore that seller up that I got a 66 but it was the most beautiful brown coin I have ever seen - I think I sold it for a little over $500 and it was just "one of those that I should have kept".
The second was a raw 1921 Peace Dollar that everyone thought was a MS-64 at best but it was so nice I thought it was technically a 65 - at that time there was a big jump in price and I sold that one also for several hundred dollars more than I paid for it.
The thing is although I have not been looking for these two coins I have not ever seen as nice a ones as these were - and that's why I wish I had them back.

My biggest regretful sell was my Buffalo Nickel 1938 D/D RPM MS-67. I sold it for $70. I needed the money at the time, but am I kicking my butt for it now.

I sold an extra 1961 half dollar DDR FS-013. It was in an NGC holder graded something like PF 55 (you can find it in the population report). The obverse had thousands of tiny scratches on it. The reverse was absolutely beautiful and scratch free. Why did I sell it ! :headbang:

Have any of you seen this coin?

    Very best regards,
    collect89

Mine would be a 1825 half cent I bought when I was a teenager from a coin shop.
I would just sit and look at it ...I thought I was so cool. It made its way into my dansco 7070 type set which I was very proud off. This book was stolen from my home in 2002...never to see this coin again...It is so bad my eyes watered typing this
Eddie in Memphis.............it was a beauty..AU..original color and luster

URG! now those buffalos sell at near $500, if they are PCGS First Strike, PF70DCAM or MS70
Sell near $450 if they are 69's
And sell near $400 if they are NGC

Never have done it with a collectors coin, but I did do it with three 1oz AGE. Bought when they were real cheap, got about $450 a piece for them, wish I had held out for a few more years though.
