What causes This On A coin

    I have this one and a Kennedy 005.JPG 001.JPG 002.JPG 003.jpg half that are like this what causes it? The Ike was dipped in easy test yesterday to help clean and show the edge.

    It appears to be environmental damage, but that is just a guess.

    On the back of the coin it does look like a little whitish like what alum would like like when it goes bad but this side of coin and the other are silver not white, I almost wonder if the sheet they got the planchets from was not melted right formed right?? I do not know I am just guessing.
