what caused this line in a 1997p half

    when i first saw it thought it was a pen mark,but wouldnt wash off
    Looks like a crack but doesnt feel like one, also will fade if in bright light...it was hard to get a pic.

    Gonna need non-grainy pictures to determine. But from what I can tell, looks like a permanent marker or sharpie, which usually don't come off with water or washing. Please don't rub, wash or clean your coins, at least don't before determining if the coin has any value or not.

    Try soaking in alcohol. If it is ink, that should take it off.

    I think it is glue on the surface of the coin and your line is the boundary edge of the glue.
