Today I order a Eschenbach 4-6-10. Expensive, but hopefully this will be the last loupe that I will ever needed to purchase.
My loupe is 10x for viewing coins at shows. I have a stereo microscope for serious viewing. I have several different eyepieces for it but I still use the 10x wide view most often.
I'm not familiar with a 4x6x10, but very much an with the Eschenbach 3x6x9, and if anything like the latter, it most certainly will be the last you'll ever have to buy. Your eyes will also be most appreciative. Congrats on the fine choice and pick up.
I'll never forget when I bought the Eschenbach 3x6x9 and used it for the first time. I felt like a kid with new eyes. It cost me close to $100 but worth every cent. One time I traveled about a thousand miles to a show and forgot my loupe. I was so mad at myself. The supply table at the show wanted $169. I bought a $10 loupe to get by but it was a hard choice to make.
I saw these for less than $70 from a supplier in Great Britain. Said nothing on the site about shipping to the US, though.
I haven't been to a coin show or store in quite a long time. Here at home I use an 8x loupe for viewing slides. Not sure what I'll do if I ever get to visit US Coins down in Houston. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
I purchased this 30mm model from Amazon. http://www.forestry-suppliers.com/product_pages/Products.asp?mi=67831&itemnum=61061&redir=Y
Otto Frei used to have them for somewhat more - I think the last one I bought was around $88 - but still significantly less than other retailers. It's been a few years though, but anyone possibly interested would be wise to check them out.
Well everybody prefers their own style, It is a little different for eyeglasses wearers in my opinion, but a large sharp magnifier is usually expensive whether 1 magnification or 3. I really prefer a 7X Belomo lens for general and a 20X for the oddities separately around my neck rather than foldin type. For a single glass, I would pick their 10X or their 12X. They say they have the lens certified like camera lens. They are excellent. https://www.amazon.com/BelOMO-Triplet-Magnifier-High-Quality-Anti-Reflection/dp/B0043GD6EO
I have a 10X Belomo. You have to watch out for those little screws popping out but it's a fine glass otherwise.
