Most of my local branches are closed tomorrow (Columbus Day). However, I would be willing to drive out of town to a bank open tomorrow to get boxes of coins (or dump coins). For all you Coin Roll Hunters out there, what banks do you know of that are open on Columbus Day?
And also most banks don't have coin counting machines, so a cu is your best bet for dumping but you in what state, I dumped yesterday lol
At 5:30 so I had to use coinstar, but it was only like 30.00 in pennys, I rolled the other denominations so I only lost like 3.00
If there is a Wood Forest anywhere near you they will be open, but they don't keep many boxes of coins on hand.
A lot just depends on where you live. Banks in smaller, more rural areas will surely be closed but chain banks in larger cities will probably be open. Examples of where banks will probably be open are Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. Examples where they will typically be closed are Des Moines, Little Rock and Sioux Falls. Heck, the banks in Little Rock are all closed on Saturday. You can bet they will take any excuse they can get to not open and Columbus Day no doubt fits the bill.
Speak for your own area. I live in a city with a population of about 12,000 people. More than half of the banks, both national and local, are open.
Am I misinterpreting the tone of your post or are you being smart with me? I like how you say to speak for your own area when all you have listed for your location is "North". For all I know you live in Canada. I have been to all of the cities that I cited, btw. I know how banks typically operate in all of them.
Wow. I'd appreciate it if you didn't speak to me as if I was your misbehaving child. I simply meant that you should be careful with blanket statements such as "Banks in smaller, more rural areas will surely be closed". I live in a smaller, more rural area and most banks are open for business today.
Yes, and I'd appreciate it I wasn't talked to as if I just joined this forum yesterday. That is how I felt after the first sentence in post #12. I am a seasoned member on this forum and as such I am due to be given a reasonably high level of respect. The OP asked for advice on who may be opened or closed. I gave him an answer yet I was pounced on for doing so. What a world...
I don't think I have disrespected you in any way. You made a statement, I tried to provide a different opinion, and you flew off the handle as if I had just insulted you personally. Calm down please.
I was disrespected, not by much, but I was disrespected. Once something has been communicated to someone, it can never be taken back or otherwise undone. Words were said and that is just the way of it. All I was trying to do was help the OP and here things have been taken down a poor path. Anyway, I am as calm and cool as a cucumber.
I told you to speak for your own area because other areas you are not familiar with (particularly in the rural areas of the country, since you specifically commented on them with a sweeping statement) have different norms. That was in no way disrespectful, not that I think you deserve any more respect than I would give anyone else just because you have a few posts on an internet forum. I can't take back anything I have said, nor do I wish to.
What on earth are you talking about? You don't know me, you don't know where I've been. Here are some small or otherwise rural areas that I have been to: Idaho-Malad City, Blackfoot, Dubois. Montana- Dillon, Lolo, Townsend. Wyoming- Afton, Cokeville, Pinedale, Thayne and Evanston. Arizona-Bowie, Duncan and Willcox. Kansas- St. Francis. Nebraska- Kimball, Sidney and South Sioux City. Iowa-Story City, Lawton, Early, Sac City, Rockwell City, Webster City and Walcott. South Dakota- Beresford, Sisseton, North Sioux City, Brookings, Vermillion and Watertown. Don't get me started on Colorado, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah or Washington. I have banking experience in a lot of the places I just mentioned. Just because banks are open where you live (which you have not even given so much as a broad hint) does not mean they will be opened elsewhere. @thecoin, we don't need outside interference with this private matter, thanks.
