    Hi CT Members,

Great forum you have here and seems like there is tons of knowledgeable people here in regards to coins at least.:p j/k

Anyhow, I have 4 coins that I have been trying to identify, I searched the Internet, some links I found here, eBay and tried to go through as many posts before asking. I am usually pretty resourceful when it comes to researching, but with coins I am not very knowledgeable with anything outside the US coins.

The thing is that these coins have nothing I can refer to, writing wise. Well please take a look. My guess they are from 400-500 AD or so possibly Greek or Roman?

Please help and thank you very much in advance for the help.

Doozyj, these pieces aren't coins. They look like some sort of arcade or discount token.Besides, these are made by some sort of machine, which blows the Greek & Roman theory right out of the water.

They might possibly be Tally Tokens of some kind, but I do not think that they are coins.

I do not know what they are but they are not near as old as 400-500 AD and are not Roman or Greek ancients.

No not necicerily, tally's & tokens are very collectable and some fetch quite nice prices, Aiden just because they are not coins do not make them worthless, you should be very careful about consigning stuff to the rubish tip before you even know what they are.

I wish these had some type of other markings to identify them. The backs are simply blank. Perhaps someone with "token" knowledge will see this post and advise. Thanks again for your genuine help. :thumb:

No idea what they are, but one of the most enjoyable things about this hobby (for me) is the research. Even if those things are worth a penny each, I think I'd get at least ten dollar's worth of amusement from looking for information and finally finding it.

Keep looking...someone, somewhere, can tell you what they are, and then you'll have a satisfying moment of "Ohhh, now I know!" before you decide whether to keep them or toss them.

Is there anything on the other side? They seem sort of like some kind of little stamps or brands. Except that the third one looks like a stylized "CAV", which would come out backwards if it were a stamp.

    doozyj, welcome to the forum!

Can you tell us how big they are? I have no idea what they are, but I like the idea of a marker token of some kind. The styling of the A characters is interesting and yes, the one looks like a CAV monogram, which maybe could be someone's initials or something. They don't look ancient, but they definitely don't look brand new either! Maybe something from the mid 19th to early 20th century??? Where did you get them from? Maybe that could help us as a place to start too.

I wonder if they could possibly be seal's??

Not too likely. Seals normally have some kind of handle, so you can pull them out of the hot wax after impressing them.

I think they're antique Scrabble letters.

The backs are completely blank. I can see how they can be stamps or seals for wax???

They are the size of 50 cent pieces U.S.
