I'v had these coins for over 35 years and still don't how to describe them. The first Jefferson looks like he needs a nose job among other remedies. The second Jefferson just looks weak all around, both sides. Can anyone out there explain these coins to me?

    hamman88 Spare some change, sir?

The 1st one looks like it has eaten away with acid or another corrosive liquid, or possibly depleated with electrolosis. The 2nd one look like it was roughed up in a parking lot and then smoothed out through circulation.

Well said Hamman88 ... I agree, both are cases of post mint damage. I do find it interesting how many different ways there are to alter and otherwise damage a coin!! Thanks for posting!

The first one has been corroded and then engraved with the long nose. The second one has been put on a disk sander for a couple of hours :(
