I know that it will be hard to grade of a pic I did the best I could with my new digtal camera. I found using the flash is a no go. Also what do you think they are worth. I know not much, but being a newbie I am curious. Coin1: Walking Liberty Half 1944 Both images of Obverse is same coin so it does have some shine. I enlarged the one without the flash it was more crisp. Coin2: Morgan Dollar 1921 Didnt see a Mint Mark Coin3: Silver Eagle 2001 Showed 2 Views one with flash are the small ones. I assume this type is considered Cameo Yes/No I am Not Sure. Another thing about this coin the Govt Packaging and storage case was destroyed by kids also the holder was cracked on end. The coin has not been touched by hands, anyway here it has not. What direction should I go about protecting this coin. I assume its not worth grading, should I just seal in a AirTite Case and forget it? Any way I know it will be hard but any estimate of worth and grading on all 3 coins would be appreciated!!!!
The Walker - MS64 - $65 - $70 The Morgan - MS63 - $25 - $30 The Proof ASE - PF69 DCAM - $30 - $35 And yes - that is a good example of cameo.
What keeps the Walker from MS-65? I do not see any significant marks, the thumb looks defined --- just cannot tell if the skirtlines are defined or not from the photo.
Any recommendations on reencapsulating the Eagle since the holder is cracked and the Govt packing was destroyed by the kids. I now put all my coins in a safe instead of a desk drawer. Lesson Learned the hard way. Should I go grading route to slab it, I was a gift so I dont have anything in it. Or would a snap style or airtite case be a better option.
It has a crisp skirt line from what I am seeing. Is it worth having professionally graded or Just Keep in in a Airtite? I bought it off eBay suppose to be an estate piece and the guy said he didnt collect I paid 12.00 for it I guess I did OK?
As for a new holder for the ASE - get yourself an AirTite - cost you about $1. It's basically the same holder as Mint issue. Just a little different on exterior diameter. My reason for the grade on the Walker is simple. The reverse appears to show signs of cabinet friction. Notice the dark marks on the eagle's breast ? This may just be due to the photo - so the coin may be a 65 if graded in hand. But all we have is the pic. MS65 is a gem grade - and with those marks - it just doesn't cut it. But for $12 - yeah - you did well I would not get the coins graded - it's just not worth it. But if the dark marks on the Walker are not there in person - then perhaps. A good rule of thumb for some is that if the coin is not worth at least $100 - don't submit for grading.
Ah cabinet friction, another reasion why i don't have proofs, i can't put them in the cabinet. I guess i really should move my 1879 UNC Morgan out of the cabinet. (MS63 in your grading standards).
