physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

But it says right in the auction that it is 100% real. How can you argue with that?

I am a beginner and I had no idea what a problem there is with counterfeit coins on the market. It seems that Ebay should have legal liability for allowing counterfeit coins to be sold on their site, and it seems the seller of these items should be prosecuted. Isn't the government taking counterfeiting seriously? It seems that if people think they can sell counterfeit US money in plain sight that they must think it's something easy to get away with.

I just read that Louis Vitton Co. sued ebay and WON for ebay allowing fake perfume to be sold on ebay. Cost ebay $80,000. Why don't we hire a lawyer and sue as class action for allowing fake coins??? Just a thought.

Because they won based on trademark infringement. Kinda hard to do that with coins don't ya think ?

I read a few articles online about this issue and my take on it is the US government is more concerned with counterfeiting modern currency rather than going after those who counterfeit collectible coins. I know that counterfeiting a nation's currency is a very serious crime with ramifications on national security. Unfortunately, manufacturing fake collectibles does not rise to that level of crime.

I bid $650 but it looks like someone wants it more.

Geez, just meant it as a little tongue in cheek. Sorry to evoke such sarcasm. I am fully aware of the reason for the lawsuit.don't ya think?

The odds of that coin being legit are about the same odds as a donkey winning the Kentucky derby.

Oh I see. I thought perhaps you were hoping to win it and then report the auction to ebay as a fraud. Performing some kind of public service I guess.

My comment was in regard to the Vitton lawsuit, not the fake coin

It would be helpful to us, the readers, if you would use the smilies to indicate stuff like sarcasm or humor. Otherwise we have no way of knowing is you are being serious or not.
