(((I know I'll probably get reamed out from you guys for asking this, but rest assured that 99% of the business I do with coins is from purchasing them, not selling. I'm only interested in this topic for my personal education)))

Searching around on eBay reveals TONS of fake-toned silver and copper coins. However, some of them resemble the same toning technique while others reveal a different one. It's obviously apparent from the images they give.

So what types of fake-toning methods are out there?

You may answer your own question by entering "toned coins on google". Talking toning tricks is not a very welcome subject here as I'm sure you know. It has to do with ethics which is perfectly understandable.

MS70, baking or heating coins. Lots of methods - get penny whimsy it talks some about copper. Dellars Darkener is another. You can also search on this forum for toning or cleaning and see a myriad of threads on the topic. About all I recall off the top of my head.

Almost like asking how many different coins there are on Earth.
There are virtually thousands of methods to tone a coin. If you want, you could just try a lot of them, write a book on how they turned out and make a fortune. Wonder why no one has yet?
Many dish soaps if left on a coin will start to tone that coin.
Most dish soaps are different so try all of them
Heat on a stove will tone a coin. Gas stoves and electric one will give you different results.
Spitting on a coin and leaving it outside will do a bit there also.
Some have place coins inside an egg, potato, tomato, etc. and have attained some different tones.
Many try a paper bag with onions and hard boiled eggs inside with the coins.
Place on a battery inside a car, placed in a flower pot, gun bluing solutions and on and on and on will have some types of toning.
