there cant be anything other than duh? before it. i was looking for info on pesos and found these sites this example made me make a funny frown "gold pesos I just sold a bunch of antique PESO coins that were solid gold. I can't believe they were worthless. I figured the gold would be worth something. I guess Mexican gold isn't worth anything. Justin" http://coinmill.com/MXN_USD.html http://coinmill.com/MXN_calculator.html
Post some pics of what you got and you will get opinions. Gold coins are always worth money and the gold coins from Mexico aren't any different!. Sure, the majority of collectors will prefer US gold but that doesn't diminish the price of foreign gold coins that much.
I think he's referring to the little posts/questions people were putting up on the left hand side of the web page.
The site seems legit. Some of the comments posted are ridiculous though as it is at any site with open comments. TC
OK, I didn't scroll down to the comments. It surprising that all those people who have the old pesos can't figure out that you divide by 1000 to get the current peso an then convert to US dollars. Then divide by 12 to get US dollars. As for the question about the antique "gold" pesos, if they didn't get anything their "antique" gold pesos they were probably from the 1970's or 80's. Kind of like the US "gold"en Sac dollars.
the questions are just sad, and made me... laugh...shake my head in disappointment...disbelief... i dont know. it says right at the top of the page that pesos were divided into 1000 to make new pesos, yet you still get the same " how much are my pesos worth?" and the guy who wrote something like "the bank says my pesos are only worth $2, i want to know where i can get the proper $57.80". someone asked what use the page was if none of the questions get answered. i really dont blame him for not answering these people.
But if you read down through the questions there are a couple of posts that DO answer the questions, or at least try to once again explain the process.
