I was just curiously thinking... for those that prefer purchasing coins with a CAC sticker... what is it that you like about CAC stickered coins?

Simple... Because the market accepts it and they usually add a decent premium.

The market also accepts coins without CAC stickers, and I've turned down a number of CAC coins as overgraded.

Confirmation of the initial grade. They can add a decent premium but some dealers think that means 50 percent. I also have seen some green beans that leave me scratching my head.

One doesn't need a green bean to buy from you, Mike!:woot:

Nice to hear DAS, and good hunting . . . there are still lots of nice coins out there.

CAC tends to help weed out overgraded coins if you just stick to them, but they still get it wrong sometimes, as I've seen some very questionable CAC-stickered coins, including a few flat out overgraded ones. Also, there are still a lot of coins out there not stickered that are solid to PQ for the grade.

Increased liquidity for higher value coins.

I like Pauls answer the best. But most of the coins with CAC stickers I like - I few I think are overgraded and did not deserve the sticker. That is my opinion. I don't need a coin with a CAC sticker, but the right one at the right price and I will make a buy.

I enjoy as many opinions as possible before buying a coin. I respect CAC.

I've read a prediction that in the future CAC coins will get the catalog price and slabbed non-CAC coins will be sold at a reduced price.

I still say buy the coin coin not the slab or stickers.

I feel the same way about CAC and most similar stickers as I do about NGC's star designation: coins with it tend to be coins I like, but I don't let it determine what I buy. I currently own zero CAC or star-designated coins, BTW. I'm sure a couple would get the star if I did a crossover to NGC, but I'm not going to bother. :)

There is nothing to like about CAC stickers. They are simply piggybacking on the TPGs, and making a profit off it. When PCGS (or NGC) grades a coin, that's good enough for me, and about 99.9% of other collectors. The graders there are the experts' experts.
    Besides, who's grading CAC ??

You don't have to like them but saying 99.9% of collectors don't certainly isn't true.

I didn't say that 99.9% of collectors don't like them. Reread my post after somehow enhancing your reading comprehension skills.

Lol you said PCGS or NGC is good enough for you and 99.9% of other collectors. That implies 99.9 percent of other collectors don't like CAC/don't use CAC. But sure go on with the insults

I've been collecting for less than ten years, so I've had a lot to learn. I've learned a lot from which coins I've submitted to CAC that got stickered and which ones didn't. Since I wouldn't bother to send a coin to CAC that I don't like, any that I have succeeded in getting stickered are to me, very nice. I have definitely found that CAC coins are easier to sell on Ebay - but I also see a lot of CAC coins that are ugly. That said, I appreciate the fact that CAC seems to like surfaces that are original, regardless of the grade. It's also helpful to know which dealers send their coins to CAC and which do not. I totally appreciate it when a dealer is honest with me about the CAC status of a coin. That alone boosts my confidence in the dealer and their assessment of the coin I'm interested in.
