I can't believe I was able to get this one. An 1890 Liberty Seated Dime in Proof condition with beautiful toning. Only 590 issued. Unsure of the survival rate but I own one of them. A high grade coin with a few minor scratches on the obverse by the word AMERICA, otherwise it's problem free. I'm very pleased. Does it show?

A lot of older proofs are really undervalued relative to their rarity. You got a great one. :)

Nicely toned... and with a mintage of 590 this is quite a scarce coin. Scratches (you mean hairlines, right?) look worse on PL or proof coins than on regular strikes. Congrats!

The scratches are barely noticeable with the naked eye but show easily under 10x. I'm very pleased with this coin.
    sean5150-Great coin!
    Yes it is. Thank you.
    Paddy-Two thumbs up!
Thanks, I only have 2 and I used them on this one. :)

Thank you, the older designs are so much more American I think.

The scratches are so faint you'd need a 10x to see them. Barely on the surface. If you saw it you'd feel like I do, I'm sure. Only 590 issued so I'll live with those minor scratches.

Are you sure that is a proof? Looks like a business strike (albeit a beautiful one) to me.

I was wondering too? Can you explain to a layman how we know this is a proof?
