I went in to Borders yesterday & found the new 2008 Red Book. I had no idea it was out yet. It usually comes out in May or June..I checked the Washington Presidential dollar, and they listed a silver one..Is that a mistake, or do they know something we don't?
There were articles in the coin publications about the Red Book's premature inclusion of the silver Presidential Dollars. If I remember correctly, Congress has yet to pass a bill authorizing the silver dollars.
Mistake, unless Congress somehow passed a new coin law that only Whitman heard about. As for the first part, they do release these pretty early. Though from what I heard from Barnes & Noble, only the spiral bound version is out yet; the hardbound and softcover will be out about late May/ early June. Only if they recall the misprinted books or put out corrected editions (thus making a misprinted copy rarer than a 2008 that is not misprinted). If the mistake's in all of them and they don't bother to coreect it until the 2009 edition comes out, than it will be no more valuable than any other 2008 redbook.
rumor has it that the mint already has the silver set aside for the project. i usually don't feed rumors, but this one is froma trusted source. ymmv -Steve
Does anyone have a picture of the outer cover of the 2008 Red Book? I can't wait for the new editions of the 20th. & 21st. Century Krause's & Krause's 'Unusual World Coins' to come out. Aidan.
I don't think I'll purchase the 2008 Redbook. The quality control is getting so poor that it's almost more harmful to own the book than to not have seen it.
My local dealer just emailed that they're in at his store too. Aidan you can see a pic of the cover on my dealers website... http://www.valleycoin.com/product_info.php?products_id=18012&osCsid=d1b6142088c09654bb7e11f2270bf6af
