I had an NGC modern order that was a coin short. I have had this coin on my desk for quite some time trying to decide what the heck to do with it. I have decided to send it in and see just what it grades. The current pop shows the bottom grade on this piece as a MS62 at the moment so I think this one is a sure fire bet for bottom dog. It's going out today and I'll report when it gets back in a few weeks. Any guesses???
Sleep deprivation? I'm thinking there are about 6.7 million with less usage on them. But ya made me look.
Jeez, what a pocket piece. Someone putting together a worst set ever may actually pay something for that one. Call it F-12.
I'm with BQ, I think it will come back F-12. As an aside I once saw 2 pocket piece Morgans that were worn nearly smooth. They were carried in the same pocket every day by a man's father with the intent of doing just that, wearing them smooth. They had spent over 25 years with him every day and the man said that there was no price that anyone could pay him for his father's two coins.
HAHA that is pretty funny. I don't think I have ever seen an Ike that low of a great. Its nice to see someone who truly loves this hobby! I am sure the people at NGC will get a good laugh out of that! I sure would! Seems a bit of a waste of money though.
It's not that bad. It's $11 plus shipping... and it was going in a larger order so shipping wasn't that much. I think that there is someone out there that will pay more then the $15-$17 I 'll have in it when it's graded just because it's neat.
Oh I know its not going to break the bank. On one hand that coin seems it will never be worth more then a dollar. On the other you seem to be someone who absolutely loves the hobby and is just doing it for a personal satisfaction. So in that regard I like the idea . In the days where all anyone cares about is high grade and profit it is quite refreshing to see this
It's too bad that you couldn't have put it in your pocket for a few more years. It would be worth more as a P-01. Chris
I have always been one that appreciates the little things. We see so many of these coins still brand new in their packages that it's fun to see one that really got some wear on it. The 1971 S's were made in 40% silver and only issued in the blue envelopes... so someone cut it out of the package and then used it as a pocket piece. I can see this being one of those coins that I keep around just for fun
