Weird texture

    Is this an error, it has a really weird texture 1964 nickel

    It is not an Error Coin. It looks like it has been exposed to harsh environmental damage and the harshly cleaned with an acid based solution. IMO.

    Could have also been a ferric chloride solution like Nic-A-Date , someone left in overnight.

    That’s what I was thinking. The nickel is eerily reminiscent of the Buffalo nickels I used to acid etch trying to bring up a date.
