This 1929-S buffalo nickel is in an ANACS slab graded MS-64. It has a speared buffalo on the back but I have no clue what it is. Monster die crack? When I look at it closer it looks struck through...maybe a spring, but it would have to be really tiny.

Sorry for the low quality pictures...best I can do right now.

It looks like a Lamination error. Very nice coin!

It doesn't look like any sort of error, but you can be sure that if it had been an error, ANACS would probably have at least contacted the submitter before slabbing it.

It may be an error but ANAC's will only put this info on the slab if you request it.

I realize that, but my point was that ANACS will make an attempt to contact you, first.

you know I have issues with that---Anacs, they only put the 'error'-if you list it on the line with the coin number....yes they grade millions of coins a week-yeah right-but you would hope they would -look- at the coin--both sides before they slab it--

nice coin--send it back in for a re-salb? with the issue noted maybe???

I came across this when I submitted a lot of WDDR-043 FY errors. My first submission did not mention the Trail Die error which was present on every coin but on 2nd submission and a different lot, when I entered the trail die on the form ANAC"s listed it on the slab. Although they probably saw it when grading they did not call me, email me or put it on themselves. This was, however my mistake, not theirs.
