weird ripples in 44 penny

    This seems to be some kind of PMD. What could cause these "ripples" in the penny? It almost looks like the "1944" has a ghost around it. Almost like waves all around the penny. Just curious as to what could cause this???? 44W5.jpg 44W2.jpg 44W1.jpg 44W6.jpg 44W3.jpg

    thank you for replying! I was afraid this silly post would sink to the bottom of the coin ocean without some opinion. Im keeping this 44 though just because it really looks different to me. I was trying to figure out how the heck that "ghosting" could be present. Its like someone went around all the details and made a raised area. So odd. Cool thing is you can see it with unaided eye. I was thinking it might have been exposed to some sort of chemical.
