Just had one of my favorite dealers give me a call this morning... That's not so weird, as he often calls when he comes across something that he knows I'm hunting for... This mornings call however started with.. "do you still have that 2021 quarter I sold you last year" I replied yeah I got all 4 still (proof and clad Tusc and WCTD).. Apparently he has a guy willing to pay at least $2k for my 2021 P MS68 WCTD (at least because that's what he offered me for it) Well I did come checking and yeah ms68 is top pop for the P. Ebay has one 68 up for 5k and the 67s selling for 100-200...

Really debating the offer, but I think I might hang onto it for now to see what happens...

    Am I being stupid??

If I could turn 2k on a modern.... I would be taking the week off. That's just me. I too would take the money and run.

It's only top pop until a 69 turns up. How many 2021 sets are still unopened in their packaging? How many people are waiting to send in their best examples?

And even if none ever grade better than 68, that population is only going to grow, not shrink.

I agree with @SensibleSal66, @Randy Abercrombie, and Steve Miller.

Of course, if everyone felt this way, the top-pop market would collapse.

For now, though, there are clearly people who disagree. They haven't come here for advice, and I'm not going to try to talk them down.

I wouldn't think twice about that offer. Think of the coins you can put back into your collection with the gain on this thing! Heck, you can take the woman out to supper, too!

..or another 68 or 2 or 3 or 4, etc. Not to mention other Registries. Not to mention there are without doubt a heck of a lot of 68 and 69 Ps.

If the Dealer was "working" on behalf of the person contacted to sell, why stop at 2K, if it is already known as a 5K piece? Why not offer 3K, or 4K? Why not sell for less than the 5K advertised without using the Dealer?

House Of Cards....the wind just has not arrived yet.

I agree that once any higher grades appear, or even a whole lot more of the same grade, that the value of a 68 will collapse. But if you want to keep the coin and don't need the money, it's also fine to keep it if you like it.

I would never consider paying anything close to that for a modern, especially one so recent. I'm pretty stunned by that offer. If it were my coin, it would likely already be sold.

    Sell!!!

The last I knew, PCGS modern coins was where the action is. NGC was a poor second.

As someone else said, all you need is one MS-69 graded piece, and you $2,000 value is toast.

Look at it another way, sell now buy one later if you must have when the market gets saturated.
I personally wouldn't hold on to it with a buyer waiting.

I'd take the money. You are almost certain to gain much more satisfaction out of many other coins you could buy with that much money.

As for hanging "onto it for now to see what happens"... I think this sort of thing almost always subsides considerably after a good run up.

I would also take the money. At some point in the future you may be able to buy another one at half that price.

I’d sell it right away and buy a classic gold coin for the money. Best deal ever.
