Weird notgeld acquisition

At some point producers of notgeld realized people were collecting notgeld they found interesting, and created some purely for the sake of selling to collectors and were never intended to circulate. I'm guessing that's the case here, partly because 75 pfening is hardly a convenient denomination, and the validity dates (September 3-11, 1921) is barely over a week. The motto on the front (which I roughly translated with Babelfish) seems to indicate that too. I've seen a lot of weird notgeld before, but this one, with a dragon breathing paper (I'm guessing the paper is meant to be other notgeld) is something I've never seen anything like before.

If anyone has any more background on this particular note, would be interesting to hear it. I'm certainly glad to add this to my dragon collection (I have a collection of banknotes with dragons on them; thought it would be fun to collect by theme. Someone on this board whose name I can't remember gave me the idea lol...).

There are lots of cool looking Notgelds. They even made some with silk instead of paper.

I love your dragon note, Troodon! As for myself, I'm collecting notes (primarily notgeld for now) that feature knights or other medieval figures (monarchs, clergy, ment-at-arms, etc). :D

Here are some of my notgeld notes you might like, Troodon.

Yes, that dragon "spits" paper money, and the text of the poem says something like, it's basically worthless but collectors like it. ;) That poem is an ironic variation of this song http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_der_Saale_hellem_Strande by the way. The "3.-11. Sept." period, by the way, is when that notgeld exhibition at the Leuchtenburg (near Kahla) http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leuchtenburg_(Kahla) was. (Both articles are in German.) The first day of issue may have been earlier, but yes, many if not most of those notes (the suspiciously nicely designed ones) were issued with collectors in mind ...

I feel like a living part of that history since I reside in the heart of Amish country.

Notgeld can be very dark and witchy.

They also have a Notgeld on a very touchy subject. I won't post the image as it may insult some members. But the note itself has a anti-semitic theme.

Not sure who "they" would be, but we already have quite a few topics about notgeld issues from several cities with anti-semitic themes or designs. Some of them have been posted (embedded), other are clickable links - hope they still work. See here for example: http://www.cointalk.com/t21706-2/
