weird lincoln

    My first post ,,i recently found this lincoln penny,,the best way to describe it is if you took foil,cut it just big enough to cover the coin,and wrapped it around the coin,,,but its not foil,its the same metal as the coin itself,,you can see (i hope)the edge of the metal around the inside edge of the coin,,the obverse side has the same edge,,all features are blurred,including the date,which i have yet been able to read.any info would be welcomed,,thanks and i hope to stay a permanent member here,,,,

    Howdy WingNut - Welcome to the Forum !!

    Afraid I can't help much with that one, never seen a error like that. Perhaps one of the error collectors will have an idea.

    I have a penny that was coated or dipped in lead that looks similar.

    I thought maybe it was dipped too,but that ridge of metal is on both sides,ill try and get agood pic of the other side,but thanks all for the imput :)
