Weird lamination error ? All Experts Please Help.

    its not pmd because the L in liberty sinks down and that can only happen if the planchet was already a defect when being struck.

    or retained clipped planchet.

    and struck through an object.

    and it looks like the Blakesley effect on the reverse.

    oh... I looked it up and it said a cud could have a hole on the reverse were the cud is. I don't know if that's true or not.

    Totally incorrect. No hole on the other side.

    A Cud is only on one side. It is not really a hole but a weakening on the other side of the coin. What happens is that an overused die will have a piece break off of the edge. So, when it strikes the blank planchet the metal from the planchet rises up and forms a cud on the edge of the coin. the others side opposite will look incused into the coin.
