I had a dream last night that I was given a bag of coins (mostly foreign) by a relative and in it was a polished mid grade (probably vf) Capped Bust quarter dollar. What made it interesting was that the cap on miss liberty had been tooled away and replaced with the cap of liberty that was very meticulously removed from a barber quarter, with the laurel crown and ribbon included, welded on top of liberty's head on the capped bust quarter and then plated gold. I realized it was a dream fairly quickly of course, when I remembered that liberty on the capped bust quarter faces left, while liberty on the Barber quarter faces right. Also, besides facing opposite directions, the cap on Barber's liberty is slightly larger than the cap on Reich's Capped Bust liberty. Part of me wishes it were real though. Or something similar. For example: Take Washington Quarters, remove George Washington as the main obverse device and replace it with the flying eagle from the reverse of Standing Liberty quarters, make it a trend and call them "double eagles" just to confuse gold collectors.
Oh this reminds me. Does anyone collect altered coins who's alterations make them collectibles in themselves, such as "hobo" nickels altered from buffalo nickels, love "tokens" made from various altered 19th century coins or "toilet" dollars made from altered trade dollars?
Yeah, but those types of dreams are a dime a dozen, and obviously the basal value my dream was worth at least 25 cents minimum on it's own. :too-funny:
Actually scratch that. You're dreams are more valuable: $2.99 a minute. (and I'll stop there as that's as risque as I'll get on this forum.)
