I recently found a dime that has a weird mark on the heads side but is fine on the tails side. On the face their are no details just the outline. You can only see the -od in God, and the D for the mint location. There is also a raised circle in the middle. Any suggestions as to what the error may be or is it just worn?

Howdy bigmac05 - Welcome to the Forum !!

Based on your description it could be due to several things, none of which can really be determined without seeing the coin. Can you post a pic ?

I think is going to be very hard to tell from your photo....if I didn't know any better...I would say that is a photo of a U.F.O. :D

See if your camera has a macro feature and if so, try this for a closeup - focusing about 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the coin.

....or just take as large a picture as you can that is in focus. Many of us download the image and use the "zoom in" features available on most image viewing software. You can usually zoom in 2 or 3 times before the image becomes too pixilated.

Even with only a blurry photo and your description, the presence of a "raised circle" in the center of the coin would indicate it was vandalized.
