Hello I’m rather curious about this coin, I found it a number of years ago, my grandfather is pretty big into coin collecting (Canadian coins) and he said that he’s never seen one like it before.

Btw, sorry about not introducing myself, I’m just a little bit too interested in finding out something about this coin if I can. :)

Thanks. I should just point out that the first pic is edited in reverse so it looks upright. It's not really backwards.

    Edit: I fixed the picture.

It's a misaligned core. Instead of being placed completely in the hole, the core partly overlapped the ring when it was struck.

If you are refering to 2 different metals, I believe, that is a Bi-Metalic coin, similiar to the Euros', being used today.

So then it's not really note worthy in anyway?

  8. I know this is very unlikely, but I know that it is possible to put a Twonie in the freezer for a few days and then pop out the centre. This could have happened as someone was trying to get their Twonie back together to spend it.

But it looks like an error. Just throwing the possibility out there.

Yeah I woudn't think so, in the first picture you can see on the stem of the maple leaf is partly gold in color. I wouldn't think that that would happen in the freezer

I dont know the minting process for bi-metallic coins...

It would certainly have value to a Error collector, then you have Canadian coin collectors who would be interested and finaly those of us who collect Bi Metalics LOL As to what it is worth, I am sorry I cant say as I have not come across one before like this :smile

It's a significant error, worth up to $80.

Don't know about the value, bit Mike is right, it is s significant (and legitimate) error.
