Weird 8 on 1938-S?

    I'm new to this site and would like to know is there anything special with this penny? I'm pretty new at collecting so any advice would be much appreciated!
    Sorry for the pictures, I don't have a good camera so I had to shoot the picture through a telescope lens.

    The eight is just damaged, probably a coin rolling machine.

    Probably coin counter.

    Hi, Welcome to the forum! I agree that it is post mint damage. Notice that adjacent to the date area in the first photo, the rim also has been affected, you can see the "newer" color streak on the edge. That confirms a scraping force from that direction.
