Ok, now for the bizzare. I have been on a weight loss/fitness program for 5 1/2 months. I started at 281 pounds and now down to 238, eating smart and healthy and getting exercise. Why I bring this up? My goal is to purchase a really nice coin for my collection once I get below 200. I had to place a carrot on This journey. Yes, I get it, I am a dork. But I have some nice candidates I may want to buy.
congratulation on that. I lost about 75 pounds myself so I know what you are going through, way to stick at it.
What have you done to lose the weight? I’m in serious need of losing weight for my health and nothing seems to work for me. Thanks for your time and congrats on the weight loss!
Congratulations!! Lifestyle changes are extremely difficult. Try to find a balance between happiness and healthy. A lot of people rapidly lose weight and then gain it back because their regimen was incredibly difficult and they didn't enjoy the way they had to live to make it work. What kind of coin do you have in mind as that carrot leading you??
You hang in there!!! I was 312 a went down to 205. It’s tough but you can do it. Buy a great coin and share it with us!
Yep, I lost around 12-15 pounds riding my bike and walking. At first I was just walking as I was bored at home on lock down! But then I thought, hey I can lose some weight if I just walk a couple of miles a day, I started and blamo, I was hooked! You already lost a bunch of weight, in my book you deserve a gold coin!
I like the 200 yr coin idea - I think I am on that theme. I am now down to 237. Anyway, I am watching my diet and on a program called Real Appeal, where you work with a coach online. I also exercise - walk, cardio, weights - but still eat fairly well. I am not starving myself - but the key for me is tracking my calories everyday and strategizing. I noticed now sweet desserts do not interact well with my system. I am losing about 1.5 lbs per week which I think is the healthy way to go. I try to make it fun - walking of the tread and blasting Ted Nugent and all my faves. I also eat veggies and hummus daily - better than Cheetos! I totally agree with TonyBronx - no toy until we get it done. But goofy as it sounds, it helps my motivation.
Good show, Dimedude! About a year ago, I lost 60 lbs in fairly short order by simply not chowing down after 6pm and replacing my nightly smorgasbord of Breyer's chocolate peanut butter ice cream, Cheetos and bowl of Frosted Flakes with just 2 pieces of white bread, smoothered with peanut butter and honey. Anyway, keep up the good fight and don't merely settle for 199, Dimedude. We all need a little cushion. I see 183 as a weight that you can both achieve and more importantly, maintain.
Ok, WGSL, but if I get below 200 can I get the coin? I wound really like to find a nice bust coin or maybe a Fugio, but that requires plenty of research.
I think it's terrific that you (and others) are on a self improvement kick and doing so well! We all need to self evaluate. Some will modify their diets to lose weight...others may have other gremlins to consider (other bad habits, e.g., smoking). Something to consider along your journey: There is a distinction between Movement and Motivation. Ideally, we tap into motivation as it creates more definitive or lasting outcomes. Movement on the other hand is less reliable in achieving definitive or lasting outcomes. Motivation is intrinsic...comes from within (e.g., the realization that you have to lose weight because it's better for a person all around). Movement is extrinsic...comes from the outside (but occasionally, we do things to ourselves). Once that extrinsic factor is removed (or no longer affordable)...things generally return to their original state. So for lasting results, make sure that you convert from a combination of Movement (the 200 year coin) and Motivation (doing the right thing for the right reason: you) to Motivation alone. Indeed, a Fugio cent would be a sweet purchase, Dimedude. And then for extra motivation, one every year on your anniversary date of breaking the 200 mark. As long as you stay under 200.
I love this idea. I first need to get below 236, then 224, then 213, then 202 and boom! regarding motivation, I enjoy the exercise and the fresh air while listening to music. I also enjoy eating healthy but not go crazy - I need a beer daily.
Status - I am down to 229, but I was hoping a little more. Also, I feel stronger with the cardio and strength training. I feel better, but it may be tough to break 200 and win the prize.
