I did a search and I don't see a lot of Wavy Steps posted, so I'll post and see what the CT community thinks. I recently found two Wavy Steps and few trail dies. I'll include pics of the two WS and one Trails. 2004 Wavy Steps with unlisted 6th column minor DDR. Listed as 2004P-1DER-003WS (black arrows are markers, white arrows show the steps and DDR): 2008 Wavy Steps (unlisted). Black arrows point to two die cracks (as markers). 2000 Trails, on UNITED, EPU and ST of STATES (unlisted):
Nice finds, strong trails are fun to discover. I have collected trail dies for some time and have enjoyed finding unlisted new ones. I have a few to send to Bob now. BJ has listed several that I have sent him. Looking at the "Trail Dies" site, there has been a lot of new collectors sending in finds in the last several months. Good luck in your searching and send the new finds to BJ or Bob to get listed. Bill G :thumb:
There does seem to be a growing interest in trails and wavy steps. BJ recently posted a early '50s proof with trails. I typically post my finds on LCR (www.lincolncentresource.net) and BJ typical responds to the posts - I am planning on sending about 5 or 6 find sometime soon. Thanks for chiming in, I was starting to think no one on CT was collecting trails or WS...
I have rolls of them here and I like them but, I have rolls of them here and I like them but, where do you go with them? I to have tons of stuff I need to send Mr. N at some point as far as die trails go. There is an 1993, and 94 Wavy Steps that are off the chart. I also got rolls of doubled feet, doubled knees, doubled heads, doubled arms - I even have a few 2008-P with wavy steps and a doubled knee with no one that wants them for any money anyway. We should set up a trading post on here for die variety people???
At this point there isn't a large collector interest in trails or wavy steps. The really major ones do sell, on occasion, but not for much. I think over time, one can only hope that others in the numismatic community will recognize them as a genuine variety - if that happens, at that point - they may have more value. The doubled knees, columns 6 & 7, arms etc., are pretty easy to find for those who know about them, simultaneously, they are likely not bold enough to be on other variety collectors' radar. A trading post for such varieties would be interesting, assuming one had duplicates to list for trade. I found another 2000 trails last night, this one is more dramatic:
