Wattenscheid is the city my ancestors on my father's side moved to once Germany started to unify and industrialize. This is a Schuetzenmedallie for the best youth team shooting in 1935. Wattenscheid SchuetzenMedallie by jorglueke posted May 11, 2019 at 12:09 AM
Nice! First I thought, are there two hands that hold the arms? Nah, it's the parts of two rifles. Duh. Today Wattenscheid is part of the city of Bochum, NW (yeah, I know, sore subject for some), and ... ta-daa ... it is the birthplace of James Bond. Christian
My father still isn't over the fact that Wattenscheid is Eingemeinded while many smaller cities are still independent. The plebiscite was against joining Bochum but the turnout was too low to let the results stand. It is a shame as what was Wattenscheid just becomes a random suburb with too many old houses.
