i was sorting out pocket change,as i always do,and found a 1984 washington, it is missing the [ A ] in quater dollar, has anyone else came across one like this, and would this be considered an error coin ? i have checked with a loop, and have not seen any grind marks to have removed it,all other letter are still clearly visible, any and all responses welcomed.i will try and post pics to clearly show this coin ASAP. thanks. countrydanny. P.S,any and all responses welcomed.
This could very well be a grease strike through coin but without photographs it would be difficult to make any type of call.
Looks like you are missing the [R] in quater dollar. Only kidding of course. Please post a photo & we can take a look at it. Very best regards, collect89
looks like im missing a lot of things here lately,i will post pics as soon as i can, i have checked other 84 quarters as i find them, and have not found any others, with the [A] missing in QUARTER. thanks for your feed back. country danny.
This is probably a result of the die being filled with grease during the strike. The detail filled in will often not strike up or will be weak in appearance. In the overall scheme of things this is a very common form of error. Thanks, Bill
