    i was sorting out pocket change,as i always do,and found a 1984 washington,
it is missing the [ A ] in quater dollar, has anyone else came across one like this,
and would this be considered an error coin ? i have checked with a loop, and have
not seen any grind marks to have removed it,all other letter are still clearly visible,
any and all responses welcomed.i will try and post pics to clearly show this coin ASAP.
    thanks.

This could very well be a grease strike through coin but without photographs it would be difficult to make any type of call.

Looks like you are missing the [R] in quater dollar.:) Only kidding of course.

Please post a photo & we can take a look at it.

    Very best regards,

He's probably from Boston...that's how they say it up there. :D

This is probably a result of the die being filled with grease during the strike. The detail filled in will often not strike up or will be weak in appearance.

In the overall scheme of things this is a very common form of error.

    Thanks,
    Bill
