Just a personal story here. The other day I went to a local coin show. Each time I go I always prepare beforehand on what I want to do. I have done a good job filling most of my other modern sets, so this time I was out to fill my Washington quarter holes (Intercept). I came across a dealer/table who had a Dansco full of MS and proof quarters. 88 in all. I had a lot of them already, but I also needed a bunch as well. Cost me $175 for the book. At first I was thinking if I did the wrong thing, but when I got home and started to really look at each coin, I was pretty happy with the buy. What a nice job somebody did putting this album together. As I looked at each coin to grade I could not help but think of the time someone took to put the set together. I wondered How long did it take, why did the guy sell and so forth. I would sure like to tell the guy his coins found a nice home.
Thanks for sharing. Silver Washington quarters are the only series I collect raw. I have to admit I have not added a single coin in a long time. I have the same album, or at least the same Type. Finding a loving curator album you could buy whole is certainly a sweet deal. Might have taken some fun out from the hunt, but at least the dealer didn't break the Dansco up and sell it piece by piece for scrap. A happy coin ending! Here's mine:
Your right about the hunt, but it is a still a reward from a hunt that is gratifying in so many ways, such as I filled a bunch of holes. Still bought a bunch of quarters in 2x2's.
I'm also working on this album right now. I took a similar approach and bulk purchased many of the post 64 coins. Now I feel like I can concentrate and take my sweet time on the proofs/pre 64 coins. Congrats on the pick up! You should share some photos Awesome album geekpryde! http://varkiasnumismatica.ghost.io/crazy-for-washingtons/
