Washington quarter error

    image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg found this quarter in my change. maybe someone has insight on this. The picture at the top shows a comparison. The quarter to the right is the one in question. The ridges are recessed from the outside edges. I don’t know if it’s a mint error or something else happened to it.

    Acid or swimming pool immersion eats away the copper core more quickly than the cupronickel cladding

    I would think if that were the case the ridges would be less pronounced, but I don’t know that much. Thanks for the help.

    Except, it's not.
    You can experiment yourself with the theory with quarters and acid.
