I have this quarter and would like to know what it might be worth and if there is any way to find out the date. It only has the 1 with the 3 other numbers missing due to the die breaking. The mint is Philadelphia. Its been in circulation awhile. Has some wear, mainly just small scratches. I received it as change from a vending machine. The image is here:

Howdy av8rdav - Welcome to the Forum !!

Afraid you're outta luck with that one - neat find though.

There is no way to find out the Date but I would say the coin will bring somewhere between $10 to $20 on eBay! However, Quarter errors (even non State Quarters) will sometimes surprise you and bring much more.

There is an '83 with two cuds that is very similar to this but it can't be that die.

With a better picture I should be able to tell, but from the scan it looks like an '85.
With this image '86 and '87 can't be ruled out.

I'll scan it with higher resolution and upload tonight.

    It's not an '86.

From these new images I'm about 90% confident it's an '85-P. The '87 has
a slightly different curve to the point of the bust and more hair detail. The
relief is also slightly lower but coins have variable striking characteristics.

You'd have a better chance figuring this out with the coin in hand. Try getting
a couple of unc or XF '85 and '87 coins and look for the differences. Also look
at the spacing between the edge and the word LIBERTY. It's tough because
the '85 and '87 are among the most similar of the later clad Washingtons. Many
of these are so disssimilar that you can be 100% confident.
