Hi CT. Here is another item that I have had for awhile. It is a George Washington memorial medal/token. It weighs 3.9 grams, and is 18.2 mm in diameter. As you can see, it is holed. I am not sure of its composition. Any ideas on its manufacture, value, ... ? As always, thanks for the information. Jonathan
Ahh -- I should have looked on eBay first. I found this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Washington-...640?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256e303390 Maybe it is not the same, and mine is holed. But, there are some possible attributions there.
This medal is a US mint medal designed by Paquet in the early 1860's. As to worth, if it is in good condition and original silver, around $100. As with most medals, its worth is in the eyes of of the beholder. I have seen original Paquet silver medals in good condition go for $85 to $400. Paquet designed a series of 18.2mm medals of presidents for the US mint. Barber designed similar medals for the US mint after Paquet left.
