I'm intrigued by the one-year issuance of the George-in-a-Boat quarter. I have my own thoughts but curious what others think. (I just realized that "uncirculated plucked from circulation" doesn't make sense but you all know what I meant )
I did the silver proofs although no way I'm paying these overrated cost now I've already found plenty in circulation for the hoard.
I voted for the two proofs but am keeping a roll of circulated anyway because I really like the design! May be a waste of space but who cares! LOL
You didn't list my preferences...... Any business strike that would (or should!) grade MS68. Any proof that would (or should!) grade PF70 (DCAM or UCAM).
Thanks - I suppose "in the highest grade obtainable" would be implied parenthetically after each selection.
FWIW, my experiences submitting SQ's for grading, nothing that grades less than MS68 for business strikes is worth the cost. Where proofs are concerned, it seems obvious that anything less than PF70 is not worth the cost since the Mint has gotten so good at striking them. You will most likely find them cheaper on eBay.
After looking around online.....the WCD quarter will only be released in P and D Bank Rolls.(just like W quarters) The only S mint marks will be in Proof and Silver Proof sets. No rolls will be available from the mint as it stands now. Setting the S mints up to be a very sought after item.
Perhaps, but one might argue that the absence of uncirculated mint rolls of P & D could make the business strikes more sought after. Just sayin'
It very possibly could be true. I am holding 6 loomis rolls of WCD quarters just in case. Will depend on mintage numbers.
I can almost see people looking at the obverse for the first time and wondering how an old quarter can be so shiny! I think this is great for the collectability of the old eagle reverse coins. The 2021's will be heavily saved. Some might get overlooked a little like the silver proofs. As a one year type coin (at least for now) there will be a lot of demand for it in all its forms.
Looking at the poll results, I'm a little surprised by the lack of love for the uncirculated mint set. I thought it would be a little more popular with no bags or rolls available from the mint.
I don't think the coins you find in an uncirculated mint set are any better then what you would find in a Loomis roll for face value. I have several unopened solid WCD Loomis rolls, and a few I opened just to see. A lot of coins in those rolls are in uncirculated condition, and look as nice or better then the uncirculated mint set coins.
