There are some kind of purchases that you're following or make , and say take a step back and then take a look at the purchase and be like was it worth it?

Here's what I'm looking to purchase (20) - 1987 American silver eagles pcgs certified ms69.. I'm looking to pay about 750 for it , is it worth it??

$37.50 apiece seems to be a pretty typical price for a 1987 ASE certified MS-69. I suppose if you want 20 identical ASEs in PCGS plastic, it's not a terrible deal, but doesn't look like a steal either.

That's $41 apiece, which, based on eBay sold listings, looks like you can pick them up for that pretty frequently individually. You might save on shipping.

Either of those prices are really buying plastic rather than coins, however. Unless you have a specific reason to want PCGS MS-69, you can buy NGC MS69 from jmbullion at this link for $35.76 (credit card) or $34.38 (check/wire/BTC) in quantities of 20.

Your title implies that you already bought a set but your op makes it sound like you haven't. Then your $850 makes it sound like you did buy a set but at $850 not $750.... So which is it?

What do they go for raw? 69 is insufficient for added value to someone who wants the slab and the grade, aside those who don't realize that of 14k 1897 Eagles graded at PCGS, 12,500 of them are MS69. Not....uncommon. As long as lots of people want slabbed Eagles, current pricing is probably appropriate. But, then again, how many people want those slabbed Eagles as eventual resale coins, and what happens when they all realize they're selling them to each other?
