i came across some indo-chine frances coins and felt the dealer seemed indifferent during purchase. unfortunately he's the only dealer in my area so i had no other choice...could anyone please inform me of a rough estimate of thier worth?

    First off...:welcome: to CT!

Did you purchase the coins from the Dealer or did you sell them? Some pictures would be nice...or at least a descripion of date, denomination, condition, etc.

Based on the information provided, I would say "Bamboozled" is a bit harsh...perhaps "Hoodwinked" or "Run Amuck", but certainly not "Bamboozled". :D

French Indo-chine piastres can be expensive. Just a word of caution, counterfeits of this type are plentiful. However, they are one of my all time favorite coins to collect. Here is a link to my French collection. There is an extensive Indo-chine collection about 70% of the way down from the top. Hope you enjoy. :welcome:

Nice collection Ripley. I am currently searching for a nice example of the piastre for my World silver collection. A little leery of the ones on Ebay. A lot of these are counterfeit. havent found one at a dealer yet.

Yes many fakes, but with experience and knowledge you can get around. So many counterfeits get the reverse wrong pre 1895. Or the ridiculous faces on some of the fakes. Many fakes from the year 1908 for some reason. (I think these come from Germany). and of course there were the counterfeits made while they were in circulation in SE Asia.

Sorry long response. I had 6 ranging from 1906 to around 1920. They were exactly like the ones in your pics. Whats an estimated worth?
