    Howdy peeps, :)

There's an old saying about, if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't. I believe that says it all for this listing on Ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-1799-8-1-Draped-Bust-Silver-Dollar_W0QQitemZ250356181905

I believe it's an authentic B-3 variety but I also think the photos have been "borrowed" from another previous auction (probably a very high Buy It Now).

If anyone here recognizes the photos and where they came from, the CFE Group would appreciate some help on this one. ;)

    Ribbit :)

    I don't know why you'd think this wasn't a legit listing
The seller's been a member of eBay for a whole day.
The listing is for 3 days (I don't think you can do 1 day listings anymore).
The slab says MS-63 but he calls it "Circulated". (Probably didn't want to worry about it being overgraded.)
His record is clean (actually nonexistent.)
And he leaves PLENTY of bidding room.

This ought to be fun

Actually, Ebay is running a Special for 1 & 3 day listings right now (half-off) so 1 day listings are still doable. ;) It's one of the things we've been fighting Ebay over, when it comes to the Coins & Paper Money section, since that is one of the ways many scammers are using to slide by our detection. But Ebay seems to be more concerned with profits than fraud.

"Will Robinson" was a character in a 1960's television show called "Lost in Space".

There was a robot who would use the phrase "Warning Will Robinson" to warn
    him of danger.

Interestingly enough, "Lost in Space" had higher viewer ratings than it's competitor, "Star Trek".

Haven't found this particular coin but........ I did find one like it that sold at the FUN show in 2007 in MS63 for $32,200 AND the same coin sold this year for $24,150. Same slab numbers, same coin.

That goes in line with the Bloodbath post. Some higher end coins have lost value lately but I think it's more like peeps don't have the money to spend right now, not that prices have dropped. ;)

I posted this on the NGC Forum hoping someone at NGC might pop in and give us some info on it but still nothing, so we will watch it to see what happens. ;)

But without demand Toad - prices drop. Whether they have the money to spend or not, prices have dropped. That is reality.

Let's put it this way, the two main honchos at Heritage thought it was important enough that they put out a 20 minute video on it to try and put people at ease.

You ever even heard of them doing something like that ?
