I think I scored my first deal deal at a local antique shop today..

    What do you all think?

Just to be able to start to spot and sift for deals is something I'd say I learned from the forum and Illini420.

*To train my eyes, I look through countless ebay coins/bullion auctions every night just to get a feel for what's out there for what price and so forth.. It seems be paying off ;)

Sounds like the deal of the week to me. Post pics when you can, hopefully you find a gem or two. I have a local group of antique stores I go to regularly. Ppl would be surprised how many antique collectors are coin collectors in disguise. :D

By the way, this week I also found 3 40% silver kennedy halves in a bank roll I got from my Wachovia, a 1957 90% silver quarter in my spare change, and 3 90% silver Roosevelt dimes in my spare change. Also got a great assortment of 90% silver barbers, walking libs, and more off CU. So this week has been great to me in the coin/silver department.

Current buy prices for dealers are just under .50 cents so

Current buy prices for dealers are just under .50 cents (if your lucky) each so your almost dead even.

Yeah but if you went to this overpriced Antique shop and saw these bags of warnickels, you too would probably think you got a steal from that place! ;)

On the subject of war nickels does anyone have insight as to why a roll would sell under melt value (ex Apmex.com)? Is it the lower silver content (35%) and the difficulty of "hypothetically" extracting the silver from the other medals?

And I thought I got a bargain when I purchased 3 sets (11 coins/set) at $10 a set. I know it's below silver content, but I didn't realize how much they discount them from silver content when you try to sell them.

Just because some dealers are trying to effectively rip silver from people for less than half of melt value doesn't mean BNB's purchase wasn't good. I'll buy war nickels at 50 cents each too!! I'm sure many others here will as well. I'm sure they for closer to spot if not more on eBay which I would think is much more indicative of what the market price for these coins really is.
