I've been in an auction for over 5 hours and I'm still waiting for my lot...... ......on a less boring note I did win some really cool coins, I will post them after the auction.
You should be glad it's on-line. Imagine being at a live auction and waiting 5 hours for a lot to come up. Been there, done that.
I looked in on the Stack's auction. Ancients were hot, it seemed that a lot of them sold at 2 or 3 times their estimates.
This is what I was waiting for, lot one thousand and something. Not a coin, but a very rare ancient Greek bronze military buckle. It's an Alexander the Great style Macedonia Shield buckle that most likely was manufactured and used in the 4th-3rd century B.C. I believe it can safely be dated to this time frame due to its material, craftsmanship, and design. Macedonia shields were used by Greek soldiers that fought for Alexander the Great and his ancestors. This buckle is in incredible condition and still has it's latch and belt strap holder. Here are some Macedonia Shield coins that they based the buckle design from.
