I like to have an accurate catalogue of the mini hoard. Waiting for new Preciouses, lol, to arrive by mail is excruciatingly difficult so, going through the Lincolns this morning with the assist of the Lincoln Cent Resource. WAMs and CAMs was a bust. Small date vs. large date is where I rest and come to an impasse. I don’t have another ‘74 D to compare to. My eyes and brain seems to think this example is a small date and, even though I know no vast premium would be associated with my coin even if it were a higher grade than it is, I still want its description accurate and I would appreciate the confirmation from the community.

The Resource Centre talks about the cross bar on the 4 being the determining factor as well as it having a lower relief. What the heck does lower relief mean?

Anyhoot, posting the Resource photo for comparison.

Small date, the ends of the numbers are 'sharp' ~ straight , where the large date are slightly rounded. IMO, Jim

I would also think small date, as comparing the large date (the 4 in particular) is much closer to the coin rim than the small date and your own example.
