Gotta say... I really enjoyed looking at these. I'm not familiar with them. I wonder why the 1950 wheat cent is included in this little collection. Is it the toning? Thanks in advance.
Just some random stuff that I picked out of my junk drawer, dear Lady. Coins with character, panache and verve. Coins mostly overlooked by collectors of slabed specimens. Coins (and medals) that I would have pick up in my youth, when most collectors completed their sets from pocket change, but that I acquired later in life due to the fact that my familial sojourn entertained more important duties. My dear wife was the one who encouraged me to get back into collecting when I retired. I'm so grateful that she did, because this hobby is most consuming (compelling?) and much better than sitting on the couch watching re-runs of 'Fraiser'.........
We all have some such in or collection, but we don't have the guts to post them. I particularly like the Conestoga wagon (Winnebago bicentennial)...that one is awesome!
I could post my entire Whitman book one Lincoln cent collection. I put the bulk of that together with my change and my grandads sock drawer cents. All are quite humble specimens. Only plugged the last four holes ten years ago. It seemed a sin to purchase those final four.
Ya know Randy? I picked almost an entire collection of Franklin Half Dollars from the pocket change back in my youth. To get the last few holes filled I had to resort to 'purchase'. Hats off to your fortitude for completing the entire collection by hand. I lacked the ability to do so because, back in my day, most silver coinage was disappearing, and I panicked.
Waifs indeed...from Hannover, Stolberg-Rossla, Hildsheim, and who knows where else. Some are almost paper thin.
