It's election day in the UK, which gives me an excuse to post one of my favourite coins. Denarius of P. Licinius Nerva, 113-112BC with wonderful scene of a vote being cast on the reverse. Please feel free to add election day coins, interpreted as broadly as you wish!
Mine saw more life then yours, lol. P. Licinia Nerva (113-112 B.C.) AR Denarius O: Helmeted bust of Roma left, holding shield and spear over shoulder; crescent above, mark of value to left. R: Three citizens voting on comitium: one voter receives ballot from attendant below, another voter places ballot in cista; [P] on tablet above bar. Rome Mint 17mm 3.3g Crawford 292/1, Sydenham 548; Licinia 7
Nice coin @Nerva. Love the obverse shield and, of course, the reverse depiction. Good luck in your elections.
Beautiful toning, and you're lucky to get the full scene with the casting of the vote. So many are off-centre, like mine.
Delighted that the same coin had been chosen to illustrate Mary Beard's TLS article about ancient elections today: http://www.the-tls.co.uk/articles/public/athens-sparta-rome-ancient-election/
