Finally found a Parthian coin, its a drachm of Vologases III (I think)105-147 AD (appologies for the bad pic)
I got a Valentinian I ill be posting in a day or so. Bought a Trajan Decius today which was just shipped, should have that next week sometime.
It looks good to me. (Many nice Vologases have flooded the market. Unfortunately, there have also been a few counterfeit ones, too.) Here's one that has been certified by Vagi at NGC Ancients: Also see these forgeries, especially #1: http://www.parthia.com/parthia_forgery.htm
Be sure to post them There were a couple nice LRB coins I tought about gettin instead of the Parthian drachm, Constantine and Constans, but have plenty of constantine erea coins. Thanks and thanks for the link.
I thought this one was pretty cool, It reminds me of the coins in older collections. Its shinny and smooth and had a patina like a copper cent. Wonder if it was a pocket piece.
I actually dont own any Constantine era ancients. Come close but I always gravitate to Severan Period pieces. Valentinian & Trajan are my first ones outside that period.:kewl:
I want to get a couple from varioius periods (versus each emperor) but I think my favorite is julio-claudian and flavian perdiods. I also want to get more Greek coins and a few more eastern coins.
I own no greeks, came close to getting one of these at the pic link here http://www.sedwickcoins.com/photos_list/j080816111007-9.jpg but got Charles iii 8 reales instead. Im buying ancients by whatever appeals to my eye. I read about the particular emperor featured on one that catches my eye and go from there. Still a few months newb to purchasing ancients but I am enjoying what I get .
oh yeah Alexander III tets and drachms are cool. I'd get more if I could afford. Was lucky to get this one

If anyone hasnt seen it yet, I'd recomend looking at Doug's site. Heres a relvant page from the site. http://dougsmith.ancients.info/parthar.html also heres a little bit of info from wiki. Vologases III of Parthia claimed the throne of the Parthian Empire about 105, in the last days of Pacorus II of Parthia (80–105). He reigned over the eastern portion of the kingdom from 105 to 147. The period was one of civil war in the Parthian kingdom; for the early part of his reign Vologases III contended with Pacorus II's legitimate successors Osroes I (105–129) and Mithridates IV (129–140), who ruled Mesopotamia. Preoccupied by conflicts with the Romans, particularly the invasion by Roman Emperor Trajan (98–117), they were unable to effectively challenge Vologases III. Following the death of Osroes I, Vologases III extended his rule through most of Parthia but had to contend with Mithridates IV, incursions of the nomadic Alans into Cappadocia, Armenia, and Media, and rebellion in Iran by an unknown usurper, c. 140. After Vologases III's death, the Parthian realm was finally reunited by Vologases IV of Parthia (147–191), the son of his rival Mithridates IV. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vologases_III_of_Parthia
