I got this from a next door neighbor couple, Charlie and Alice, probably 25+ years ago when I was a wee lad. They were amazing. I filled it up with dimes when I was young and haven't touched it since. I was just sifting through some of my exonumia and other random stuff and came across it. I would love to be able to fill it with mercs but that's out of my budget. The bank no longer exists, at least in name. I don't know if the building is there since I've not been back to that town since I joined the Navy in 2002. The tiger is the mascot of the local college. If anyone has similar bank coin savings folders, please feel free to share them
That's cool. Loved visiting my grandparents in York, NE when a kid. https://www.usbanklocations.com/crete-state-bank-8602.shtml Does this look like it?
That's it but it's definitely been "modernized". It was an old-timey looking bank when I lived there.
Had a few of them as a kid but couldn't resist spending them for Ice Cream. Is it the lighting or do some of those dimes have light pastel toning on them? If it's toning, I'd love to see some full size photos of the nicer ones. Thanks.
Naw it's the lighting unfortunately. Took the pictures near the front door and the side windows make rainbows in the evening
That's neat. I have several relatives leaving in and around Crete. And I remember banks giving those folders out at other banks. Thanks for posting it.
Yes. At the moment I have 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren in Crete. A daughter in Greenwood.
My mom is a teacher in Crete. Depending on their ages, my mom could have taught them or will possibly teach them
I keep in touch with them very regular. I will pry some info out of them about school after they go back. It is a small world.
I remember seeing things like this. Back in a day when banks would encourage young folks to save. Could you imagine a 5% return on your savings these days?
