witch coin is most affected by viniger a 50c peice or a 20c peice and hi too all people i jus registered and would like to know the answer.
Hi kyle. Welcome. Both denominations would be negatively affected by viniger, as well as just about all liquid substances. The last thing you ever want to do to a coin is try to clean or "improve" it.
Welcome to the forum Kyle. Jody is absotively, posilutely 250% correct! Vinegar is an acid, which will eat away the metal. Definitely a great big NO, NO.
.... that's correct enough for two and a half people! I mean, there's correct... and there's correct.
That depends on what ya mean by "works better". If you mean it gets the dirt and grundge off the coin - you bet it does. So will vinegar. But both substances have the ability to take a coin potentially worth - let's say - $1,000 and turn it into one worth $20 That kinda tends to make ya look at "works better" just a bit differently.
By looking at some of the coins that are being offered for sale (won't mention by who), I'd say that some folks spend a lot of time trying to figure out what "works better".
I still believe vinegar is more harmful to coins than hydrogen peroxide ever will be. I'm talkin about cleaning coins dug outta the ground. Nothing beats hydrogen peroxide on old brass and coppers. My opinion
