    Hello all,

could you help me identify this large Annam coin? It`s probably Canh Tinh coin, but I am not sure, because I did not find exactly the same coin in Krause catalog. I don`t have any catalog of Viet nam coins:(

    diameter: 45mm
    weight: 29 gram
    material: bronze

    Just a hunch but I don't think it's a coin. I think it's a charm.

Sure the heck does not look like any coin in Barker that I remember. Barker is the preeminent english language reference for these, with Toda second.

I agree with Conder that it looks like a charm.

Hard to tell since they were privately issued. If I had to guess I would guess not because of the roundness of the edges of the characters. See how the Zeno example is worn, but still has sharp edges to the lettering? Yours looks rounded more like loss of detail from casting a copy than wear. Also, the fields look uneven, but that could be the photo.

    Just my opinion though.

This is a souvenir piece from the Vietnam War era. It reads Canh Hung Thong Bao but this is not a genuine coin.
