You mean the morse code for V, ...-? My monitor is kind of dim and I can't alsways make out posted pics..
The dots and dashes were part of the coins design and to my knowledge don't have any hidden meanings.
So, it could be coincidental, like the opening notes to beethoven's synphony V: dit, dit, dit, dah which predated Morse's code invention for the letter V. ;-)
Morse code on the victory nickels says: "We Win When We Work Willingly". The value is no more than other 5 cent coins of the same age.
It's for real. These were war years. Also in 1942 &43 these coins were made from a brown alloy called tombac as nickel was needed for the war effort.War demands for copper & zinc suspended the use of tombac and plated steel was used in 44& 45.In 1946 they went back to nickel. That's the end of my history lesson.
I knew that part...somehow I just never learned about the morse code being on the coins...or perhaps I just forgot. Anyway thanks for the info.
That's really cool info. I hope I come across one of those and I can share that with someone. Thanks. - Hal
