Hello everyone! I've just been clearing through some coins and found the following... The coin has a diameter of 18mm and has the following inscription written around the face... 'Victoria Dei Gra Britt Regina Fid Def Ind Imp' There is no date on the coin, and the outer rim is smooth with no inscription... The reverse of the coin is blank....? I've added some pictures - does anyone know what this is? http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x31/harrison_87/DSC02651.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x31/harrison_87/DSC02652.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x31/harrison_87/DSC02653.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x31/harrison_87/DSC02654.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x31/harrison_87/DSC02655.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x31/harrison_87/DSC02656.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x31/harrison_87/DSC02657.jpg Any info is good info - thanks!
I think this is from the 1895-1901 era. It looks like a pin worn by someone. the back looks like it may have at one time had a holder for a pin. Not sure, but here is a link that may help. It does appear that on the left part of the reverse, there may have been a clasp attached. Look closer at it. http://www.victorianwars.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=548&start=30 This medal would be similar to the one that Winston Churchill would have won for his help in Africa in the Boer Wars.
It's a crude modern fantasy piece: I've seen similar pieces used in key rings. Value approximately $1.
