I have found completley by accident whilst looking on the scanner that one of the VDB signatures looks far different from any of the others.1995-D Lincoln Memorial cent Has there ever been by design or accident a VGE on the base of Lincolns bust. I have to say that I am convinced! The "E" could easily be explained away as overzealous grinding and/or polishing of the Die. However, a little more had to go into changing the "D" to a "G" and that is what it looks like! I would say that one or more Mint Employees have had a little too much extra time on their hands and decided to put it to use. Maybe there are three that got tired of old Victor D. Brenner getting credit for coins that they are tasked for minting, say Vince, Gordon and Eddie. Although the V.G.E. Initials may be an unauthorized change in the Die or Dies (if many more happen to show up) or of some other cause but it may still be considered a Variety. Therefore, you might want to send the coin off to Copper Coins, Coneca or the Coin World folks to get it checked and possibly attributed as such. Frank
